Am I eligible for a job in US on OPT?

So I graduated 2-year college last June specialized in web programming.

2 days ago, I finally received an EAD card which makes me eligible for finding a job related my major.

But I thought I still need a visa sponsorship from the company to work there.

The reason why I thought like this was

I've heard a lot of stories of international students who were struggling to find a job

because there were few companies that were willing to sponsor them.

So everytime I see the job postings saying 'No sponsorship',

those positions were out of my wishlists because I thought I am not eligible for those positions.

 

And it was like an hour ago when a friend of mine told me that

'I think you still can find jobs because I've seen so many students who already found their jobs with their EAD cards,

so I think it's not like 'impossible' for you to get a job here.

Cause you got an EAD card anyway. I bet there's some way you could try.'

 

And something just came up to my mind. 

'Right, if I still need a sponsorship even with an EAD card, then what is the point of EAD card?'

So I googled about it.

And...

 

Dang!

You are eligible to get a job in US without a sponsorship if you are on OPT and have an EAD card!

(only if the job position is related to your major)

 

I think many cases of international students who were tyring to find companies

that are willing to provide sponsorship were worried about when their EAD card is expired.

If the company is not sposoring, that means they cannot extend the contract once their EAD is expired.

And that means those students have to go back to their country

because they are no longer allowed to work in the US legally.

 

But in my case, luckily, I will be on the process of AOS (adjustment of status) before my EAD will be expired.

So I won't have to worry about what others worry about.

And hopefully the company I'm going to apply for won't worry about my sponsorship as well.

 

Once I have confirmed about this, I feel like I can find a job in a sooner time!

It's like I have much more confidence.

 

Ok, so my status is secured right now to get a job.

All I need to do is to prepare for the interview specialized in web programming.

And apply for job positions!

Just go into action!!!!
